Cambrian began as a center for ranching and agriculture due to its rolling hills and fertile land. The Cambrian region was organized as a municipality in the middle of the 20th century in the postwar population boom in the Santa Clara Valley.

Belgatos Park is nestled in the southern end of Cambrian. This expansive 17-acre park has over two miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Belgatos Park also has a large playground and plenty of open green space.
