We’ve spent the last few weeks concentrating on the sales process for your home, but that’s only part of the equation. To sell a home, you first need to buy one.
The phrase “Location, Location, Location” was first coined in 1944 by Harold Samuel, the founder of one of the largest real estate companies in the UK. There is a good reason why this has become one of the most known phrases when talking about shrewd real estate purchases, be it commercial or residential; all real estate purchases start with choosing the correct location.
Before you go down the path of how many bedrooms you need and is there enough space in the backyard for the kids’ trampoline, you need to work out where your home should be. Here in the Bay Area we have an abundance of good reasons to make this area your home. We have a wonderful climate and where else can you think of in the world where you could go surfing in the morning and still make it to the mountains for a half day of skiing in the afternoon? You’ve decided the Bay Area is the place for you so now you need to narrow your search.
Make a list of the things important to you and your family in order of priority, good school district, access to hiking trails, distance to the nearest grocery store, quick access to commute arteries, is their nightlife, or maybe you want to be far from civilization and only have deer as your neighbors. Start with finding the area that suits the top item on that list. Next, do the research to find the most knowledgeable real estate agents in that area and they will help you narrow down the rest and guide you through the purchase process.
